Wine Not!
November 10, 2017 - A few of our Pappas Bros. Steakhouse Sommeliers had a wonderful time participating in the Periwinkle Foundation’s annual Iron Sommelier Competition on November 9th! The booth by Brandon Kerne in the main ballroom was themed: “How to Fight a Windmill with a Corkscrew: A Quixotic Spanish Wine Adventure”. Brandon poured iconic wines from some of Spain's classic wine regions (Cava, Ribera del Duero, Jerez) at a table decked out with windmills, in the memory of Cervantes’ Don Quixote, and Spanish colors. The table also featured Spanish meats, cheeses, and small bites.

Former Iron Sommelier winner, Steven McDonald, was tasked with pairing the fourth course of a special dinner. Steven paired Chef Patrick Feges Smoked Beef Belly, field pea casserole and celery root puree with 2004 Dal Forno Valpolicella Superiors from Veneto, Italy.
