What We Fund

HungerOur first priority will be to direct support toward programs that feed the hungry citizens, especially the children, in our communities.  Thirty-five million people in the U.S. are hungry or don't know where their next meal is coming from, and 13 million of them are children. Our goal is to contribute to the eradication of hunger in the United States. Non-Sectarian programs that feed the hungry and provide food to disadvantaged citizens will be emphasized.

Literacy and EducationSupport will be directed toward programs that open access to education for the disadvantaged or disabled. Literacy and enrichment programs benefiting children will be emphasized. Priority for support will not be given for private schools, institutional endowments, and construction of facilities or debt-reduction.

Community InitiativesEmphasis is placed on programs that offer education and self-improvement assistance through community and neighborhood organizations, that help support families, that expand career opportunities for youth, and that strengthen the neighborhood's capacity to improve its social and economic environment.

Civic PolicyOccasional support may be given for program needs of organizations that develop policy in the area of economic development, social policy, animal welfare and the environment.

Some of the organizations that we support include:

Food Banks Pappas Annual Shirt Dessert promotion raises funds to benefit Food Banks in our communities.

Habitat for Humanity Our restaurant employees have assisted in feeding the Habitat volunteers.

Boys and Girls Club – Pappas assists the Boys and Girls Club in projects such as Project Santa, where our staff adopts their own needy families each holiday season and raises money internally to purchase gifts and food for them.

The Ronald McDonald House, Star of Hope Mission and Homeless Shelter, and several others have been the beneficiaries of new kitchens donated and built by Pappas Restaurants.

Additionally, we encourage our employees to give of their time through either volunteering or raising money for a cause.  Employees have volunteered at animal shelters, ridden in the MS150 Bike Race, run in the Susan B. Komen “Race for the Cure”, and donated personal time and money to organizations that mean the most to them.
