Affordable, cheap, deal, value — those aren’t words I think of when I’m headed to a Houston steakhouse. It’s already a splurge by the time I order a spritz, shrimp cocktail and salad. At Pappas Bros. Steakhouse, which I often cite as my favorite in Houston, the restaurant’s online menu shows steaks starting at $61. That price comes with top-notch service, white tablecloths and a dessert trolley tempting you to pad the final bill even more. But there are times — most of the time, to be honest — when all I want is a nicely seared steak with a perfect medium-rare center.
